Senior Pastor Arthur Grier
Pastor Arthur Grier is an ordained minister with the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana. He has served in various ministries at Martin Street Church of God for more than 25 years.
Arthur Grier is the youngest of six children born to Ada and Aaron Grier. He is a native of Atlanta, Georgia, born in the Mechanicsville community, and a 1976 graduate of George Washington Carver Vocational High School where he was in the top 3 percent of his graduating class while excelling in athletics.
Pastor Grier became a student athlete at Morris Brown College in Atlanta, and, while playing football he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He attended the I.B.E.W. (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) Local 613 electrical apprenticeship program and received his Journeyman Electrical Wireman Certificate in 1986. He became an I.B.E.W. electrical instructor the next school term.
In 1990 Pastor Grier was given an opportunity to teach on the college level in the electrical field at Atlanta Area Technical School now Atlanta Technical College. In 1995, he attained his Master of Science Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University while serving as Acting Dean of the college. In 1997, Pastor Grier became Dean of Instruction and currently serves as Dean of Industrial and Transportation Technologies at Atlanta Technical College where he has served in various positions for over nineteen years. While at Atlanta Technical College, he has earned recognition and awards for outstanding instruction and leadership. He was recently the recipient of the 2009-2010 National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award in education.
Saved in October 1979, Pastor Grier joined Martin Street Church of God later that year. He was called to ministry in October 1981, and, in 1984, he was licensed as a minister for the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana, under the leadership of Pastor Manuel Holston. He was named Pastor-Elect for Martin Street Church of God in December 2009, ordained in January 2010, and installed as the new pastor on June 6, 2010. While at Martin Street Church of God, Pastor Grier served in many areas of ministry, including Assistant Teacher for New Convert Ministry, Assistant Coordinator for Financial Peace University Ministry, Director of the Teachers’ Ministry, Finance Committee Member, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Juvenile Outreach Minister, Youth Minister Leader, Athletic Director, Coach, and Math Tutor at Martin Street Christian Academy.
Pastor Grier is married to his lovely wife, Grace Dennis Grier, and together they are the proud parents of three adult sons (Nicholas, Gabriel, and Stephen), and one teenage daughter (Dawn). They have one granddaughter (Kayla). Pastor Grier and his wife have being married for twenty-one years.
A servant and visionary leader, Pastor Grier’s vision is, “To be transformed by the Love of Jesus Christ, and through the Word of God, and, to live so that we can transform others.”
